I'm Kevin, an energetic and service-oriented computer science student with a history of achievement in formulating projects and conducting research at top universities. I'm currently pursuing my education at UC Berkeley, where I intend to major in computer science and continue the never-ending journey of becoming an engineer. Working under Dr. Wendy Guan in collaboration with Harvard’s Center for Geographical Analysis on a project seeking to uncover and understand how COVID-19 has impacted mortality categorized under different causes through collecting relevant datasets and exploring geographical patterns. Our research team will conduct a cold/hot spot analysis over time and space to better understand and explain the impact of COVID-19 and work towards developing a publicly accessible spatiotemporal dashboard for data visualization as well as a research publication to report our analysis and findings. Researching multimodal detection of deepfake videos using PyTorch; working with signal processing and ensemble methods to perform sound classification. Developing a model with PredRNN++ by modifying its architecture to perform classification. Improving current state-of-the-art prediction results by assessing a model on synthetic and real datasets through implementing a gradient highway architecture. Granted a scholarship for the research of data science regression models including nonnegative garrote, LASSO, and elastic net regularization with application in applied mathematics and probability theory under Professor Lulu Kang. Utilized R to compare different NG approaches with and without marginality principles via comprehensive simulation studies to determine which approach outperforms the other.

Through this 10-week leadership program sponsored by the UN, NASA, and NOAA paired with lessons from the Harvard Kennedy School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, I will gain skills and knowledge changing the way I see and interact with the world. Working within the Coronavirus Visualization Community to address the information overload around the spread and impact of COVID-19. Assisted and supported the formation of partnerships between CVC and organizations including the Harvard Center for Geospatial Analysis, COVID Foundation, and MIT Innovation Initiative while promoting and managing a community consisting of members from over 300 schools working on over 25 different projects. Helped set up, implement, and manage the CVC Intercollegiate Discord server community.
